New Look

We hope that Hyperbeat’s new format will please you and that you will find it more attractive and interesting.

The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you informed on the latest developments in our clinic regarding this therapy which we continue to provide with marking results. Consequently, slowly but surely, it is gaining more popularity among healthcare workers. However we are still having to make our way on “the road less traveled” and it is very important that we continue to maintain the flow of information. We wish to be interactive with our readers and invite and welcome your comments in order to share them with our other readers.

New Name

I keeping with our new look, as of the month of May the new name “TERAPIA” Clinic is being used in all our documents. User friendly and easier to retain, it will appear on all our brochures and on our website which is also getting a “facelift”. Please visit our updated website at this new address: www.terapia.ca

Unique in Ottawa

We are pleased to inform you that we are the only medical clinic in Ottawa offering HBOT as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of difficult wounds in addition to all the other indications listed in our brochure.

Since 1999 we have treated patients from across Canada and the US. Successful treatment provides us with a continuous flow of patients. Many of which are very outspoken with their positive comments on the excellent care given to them by staff while they were undergoing therapy. Some have put their appreciation in writing, like the one shared with you in our last Hyperbeat newsletter.

Elevator, Fall 2003

Finally, Bank Medical Centre is expanding and we can officially announce that our physically challenged patients will have the use of an elevator by the month of September at the very latest. This will enable more people to access our services.

Bank Medical Centre is also expanding its facility with the introduction of a much needed Walk-In Clinic involving over 10 physicians. It’s hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm.

Conditions Treated

In our last newsletter we were very outspoken on the merits of HBO as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of various problem wounds such as diabetic etc... and this continues to be the case as patients are referred to our centre on a regular basis by The Rehabilitation Centre, Dermatologists, Vascular Surgeons as well as Family Physicians.

Other conditions which also do very well with HBOT, one of these is Osteomyelitis, which is a bacterial infection involving bone. Another is Radiation Tissue Damage. All of the above conditions compensable benefits under OHIP and the RAMQ.

Our Cerebral Palsy patients are the living proof of the improvement they have made with HBOT. Our own experience and that of other centres has shown that the optimal treatment pressure for CP is to use 100% Oxygen at 1.5 ATA Brain injury conditions treated include Closed Head Injury and Stroke. Lyme disease is yet another condition which has responded very well to HBOT.

The big drawback in having these last conditions treated with HBOT is the high cost to patients. Many of our patients have resorted to fund-raising in their communities. It is surprising how many companies and even friends are willing to participate. We will gladly issue “Charitable Donation” receipts when requested.

We are pleased to participate in reducing costs by offering the first 20 treatments to new patients at $85 CAD each and also when the 100th treatment has been reached. In addition special consideration will be granted to patients who have not received treatment here since 1999.

Welcome

We are very pleased to announce that Brian Millar, qualified hyperbaric technician with 35 years’ experience in the hyperbaric field has joined our team of experts. Welcome Brian!
